Daffodils in Brede High Woods

Uploader's Comments

There are both single and double daffodils in this area by Powdermill Lane and they probably grew originally in the garden of the property called 'Meadowlands' that stood here until around 1930. They are certainly not wild. The double daffodils are a very old variety, thought to be a form of the wild daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus) dating from at least the early 17th century and variously known as Narcissus telamonius plenus and Narcissus Van Sion.
