Uploader's Comments

View southward, towards Bristol etc.; ex-GWR Bristol - South Wales also Swindon/London, via Filton Junction main lines. (For more detail see [[[2098660]]] and others). This is the Summer Saturday 08.35 Ilfracombe via Taunton and Bristol (Temple Meads) to Manchester (Exchange), making for the Severn Tunnel then north from Newport (Maindee East Junction). The locomotive is a - very shabby - 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 5071 'Spitfire' (built 6/38 as 'Clifford Castle', renamed 9/40, recently fitted with a double-chimney, withdrawn 10/63).
