The entrance road, which also serves some houses, is a private road off the public road running down to the Hampton Loade ferry, adjacent pub and the hamlet of Hampton Loade. The treatment works is operated by South Staffordshire Water plc. The company's origins date from 1853 and it was one of a small number of private water companies in existence before the water privatisation of 1989.
