Eilean nan Gobhar, Highland

Eilean nan Gobhar from the A861

Uploader's Comments

There are two Iron-Age vitrified forts on Eilean nan Gobhar or Goat Island, the larger on the summit. With little view of a fleet approaching from the north it is likely that the forts were used as sentinels in a chain of telegraphic communication using smoke or fire.
