One of numerous stone-built butts in a line extending down the flank of Holdron Moss into the valley. Some seem to be derelict but most have white painted numbers and look as if they are still in use. Unlike on some grouse moors these butts have no vehicle track right up to them so perhaps not all shooters have lost the use of their legs? Beyond Langden is the valley of Hareden with the bulky Totridge Fell and its shapely subsidiary Mellor Knoll. On the skyline, above the Knoll, is Pendle Hill.
