Camas Gorm, Argyll and Bute

Granite shoreline east of Camas Gorm

Uploader's Comments

The hard rock of the shore drops steeply into Loch Linnhe for a considerable stretch, with oak woodland securing a foothold not far above the waves, so it's not surprising that there is no coastal path here. The rock is a pale pink, medium-grained biotite granite, well able to resist the erosion of the glacier which carved out Loch Linnhe along the line of the Great Glen Fault. The photo was taken about low tide - by the time we had got here from Corran Ferry, the ebb tide was no longer helping us along and we were looking for a place to camp.
