Burnhead Dam from cairn on Bolt's Law

Uploader's Comments

Burnhead Dam is a relic of lead mining days providing (with other reservoirs) water for power generation. Do note the tinsel draped around the cairn! Twice in recent years, near to Christmas the photographers have arrived at the nearby trig point on Bolt's Law to find it 'decorated' variously with tinsel, a bauble and a small snowman toy! For Christmas 2010 it seems the attention of the decorator(s) turned to this cairn which is a few tens of metres north of the trig.
