Elan Village in the Elan Vlley, near Rhayader

Uploader's Comments

Elan Village is a cluster of houses built at the end of the 19th century at the time of the construction of the reservoirs and dams further up the valley. They were to house the workers and their families employed in maintaining the controls and filtration plants. It's not a proper village, in as much that it has no pub, post office or shop. But given the religious fervour at the time, I would imagine there would have been a chapel.
