Looking southwest from White Sheet Downs, probably the best direction to capture the picturesque magnificence of this prominent landscape feature. To the left is Nor Wood, beyond which (out of sight) is the small Wiltshire town of Mere. The barley has been reaped and its straw round baled in the fields.
