Wishaw, police burgh and quoad sacra par., Cambusnethan par., Lanarkshire, 15 miles SE. of Glasgow by rail - quoad sacra par., pop. 9791; police burgh, pop. (including Cambusnethan and Craigneuk) 13,112; P.O., T.O., 4 Banks, 1 newspaper. Market-day, Saturday. Wishaw is the centre of a vast mineral trade, and has a distillery. Wishaw House, seat, on South Calder Water, is 1 mile NW. of the town.
