The house on the left is Loudoun House. It was, originally, a pub called "The Rat and Ferret", which was later renamed "The Loudoun Arms", after the countess of Loudoun who married Lord Donnington, the local landowner. In the 1920s, it became a shop called "Dow's", before finally being converted to a house.
