A slightly raised path, not visible in this photo, possibly once a farm track. The showing of rights of way at the edge of the New Forest indicates that they are not on historic Open Forest (Crown land), but on an "adjacent common", even though landscapes are shared. In this case, the path might be across land once belonging to Pilley Manor. The New Forest ponies were being pleasingly frisky.
