Weatherhill (or Everleigh) henge is a Neolithic Scheduled Monument on part of Salisbury Plain used by the MOD. The posts, painted white at the top, are there to demarcate the site and be clearly visible to tanks both day and night. There is little to see of the henge itself; it is virtually completely ploughed out. http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/artsheritageandlibraries/museumhistoryheritage/wiltshireandswindonhistoricenvironmentrecord/wshermap.htm?a=d&id=9465 http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/4169/weather_hill.html#links Henges are circular or sub-circular enclosures defined by a bank and (usually internal) ditch, with one or two (rarely more) entrances. Of ceremonial/ritual function, they contain a variety of internal features, sometimes including timber or stone circles.
