The fountain and surrounding gardens were designed by William Andrews Nesfield and installed between 1854 and 1860. The central group of the fountain itself was carved from Portland stone by James Forsyth. Following restoration the fountain was inaugurated by HRH the Prince of Wales in 2002. The view is enhanced by the displays of rhododendrons, some of which are unusual varieties thought to exist only at Witley.
