View northward, towards Lancaster, Carlisle and Scotland: ex-LNWR West Coast Main Line, also junction formerly of branch to Knott End (closed 31/3/30 to passengers, 13/11/50 to goods). This poor shot was taken right behind the Kenlis Arms Hotel, the railway is up to the right - and my Honda Accord dominates the scene. On the far side of the railway is the great M6 Motorway.
