Temple Wood, Carlisle

'Scotland' and Moray Firth from 'Duncansby Head'

Uploader's Comments

This view is over the 'Great Polish Map of Scotland' - a large relief map of Scotland created by General Maczek in the grounds of the Barony Hotel at Eddleston. He commanded the Polish army in Scotland during WW2 and postwar lived at Edinburgh living to the age of 102. Although badly needing renovation places and features are easily recognisable and there are plans for its restoration. A web site www.makers.org.uk/place/Maczek gives further details.
