Rode sits on the River Frome and has a long history of using water power. Corn milling was the principle occupation but from the sixteenth century, the area was involved with woollen cloth production. Over time the mills were repurposed to fulling, then weaving and dyeing. This mill remains, but now serves hungry guests.
