Two memorial plaques are attached to the stones in the cairn. The upper one commemorates three members of the Mountain Rangers Club (PHB Beames, RP Hughes and JA Sharp) all of whom were killed in WWII. The lower one is a memorial to GHP Beames, obviously a relative of the aforementioned, and a founder of the same club, who died in 1986 at the age of 80. Testament enough, I think, to the health benefits of hillwalking.
