Weardale Ski Club has its own ski installation in Swinhope, a tributary valley of Weardale. In addition to the hut there are ski tows, unseen in the image. The building has a terrace and a garage below in which is stored a vehicle for 'grooming' snow on the slope. On the day the photograph was taken snow lay thinly but folk had been out on ski and the 'piste-basher' had been in action - presumably just to give it a run.
