Part of the extensive and ongoing woodland management around the summit and upper slopes to allow more daylight by creating glades and rides. This will benefit the fauna and flora of the nature reserves - RSPB, Wildlife Trust, Lancashire City Council and Lancashire County Council all manage various sectors up here.
