Stockbridge, market town and par. with ry. sta., Hants, on river Test, 6½ miles S. of Andover and 18½ miles NW. of Southampton, 1128 ac., pop. 873; P.O., T.O. Market-day, Thursday. Stockbridge is an ancient place, and sent 2 members to Parliament till 1832. In addition to the weekly market there is an annual fair for lambs. A racecourse and a training establishment for racehorses are here. The town is a resort of anglers, who obtain good trout fishing in the Test and neighbouring streams. An ancient camp and some tumuli are in the vicinity of the town.
