Millers Pond is the largest of three ponds within the grounds of Spring Park House. It was a working farm pond, used for watering animals and soaking cartwheels to prevent them from shrinking. The original farm buildings were in what is now Farm Lane. Spring Park House stood at the end of what is now Farm Drive. In the 1950s Bethlem Royal Hospital used Spring Park House as a nurses' hostel. The house was demolished in the 1960s. Croydon Council acquired the pond and its immediate surroundings in 1934 as an open space and named it after the last tenants of the farm.
