In the foreground, a female Eider incubating her eggs: they sit close and immobile for as long as possible, hoping not to be noticed, and this one only abandoned her nest when I nearly blundered on top of her. As can be seen, when I veered away startled by the sudden movement she returned quickly to the nest.
