A native of Africa and South Asia, the Rose-ringed Parakeet (also known as the Ring-necked Parakeet) has become increasingly established in the wild in the UK, the current population dating from the late 1960s, with rapid expansion caused by successful breeding, probably added to by subsequent escapes.
