Ruins at Prys Lead Mine

Uploader's Comments

Prys lead mine appears to have seen most activity in the 1870's & 80's. It is towards the eastern edge of the large mining ground around Hurst and Fremington Edge and it does not appear to have been very productive, whilst there are reports of problems with water and bad air. One would assume that the building here would be the mine shop, whilst to the bottom left of the photo can be seen the line of a trench leading to the entrance [now mostly collapsed] of the level which ran into the hillside to intercept the veins. Unusually the mine was worked again for a short period in the 1930's, again without much success.
