Saxmundham, market town and par. with ry. sta., Suffolk, 11 miles S. of Halesworth and 20 NE. of Ipswich by rail, 1101 ac., pop. 1318; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks. Market-day, Wednesday. The town stands between two hills, is well built, and has an ancient church, a market hall for corn, a free school, and important trade in corn.
