The shale bing is a marvellous viewpoint in all directions. This view is to the east and shows Ross's Plantation in the foreground. The small town of Kirkliston is beyond the M9 motorway to the left with Edinburgh Airport centre and Newbridge to the right. In the distance from the left are North Berwick Law, Edinburgh (Arthur'Seat prominent) and the long ridge of the Pentland Hills.
