Built in 1881 by the Packe family, of Prestwold hall, whose crest appears in the cartouche in the central gable. It replaced an earlier building of 1840 which housed a school, founded in 1657, which moved to this site when the hall was expanded in 1840. In 1882 it became a Board School serving the villages of Burton on the Wolds and Walton on the Wolds before being replaced by a later school in the village of Burton itself. Now converted to residential use. Listed Grade II.
