This lane dead ends about a kilometre ahead and is succeeded by a rough bridleway to Merrivale. In the hedgerow the tall spikes of bracken dominate the top of the hedgebank. The bracken is soon to shade out the earlier flowering bluebells. Lower down the bank a profusion of ferns predominate.
