River Rye, North Yorkshire

Nunnington MIll

Uploader's Comments

A four storey former corn mill standing close to the River Rye at Nunnington. The mill is mid 18thC but was considerably altered in 1874, and continued in use until 1960. The construction is curious as the lower part is of coursed sandstone which looks newer than the rubble limestone above. The mill was powered by an internal undershot wheel. A fine building that needs preserving.
