A ford through the River Caldew on the track to the isolated Skiddaw House. The footbridge to the left is provided for pedestrians for conditions such as those at the time the photograph was taken, a cloudy and wet day in early November. The group of trees on the skyline mark the location of Skiddaw House and were planted to offer the isolated youth hostel some protection from the weather.
