View eastward, down towards Beattock, Carlisle and the South; ex-Caledonian West Coast Main Line. Stanier 'Coronation' 8P 4-6-2 No. 46227 'Duchess of Devonshire' seems in splendid form, breasting the summit of the 10-mile climb up from Beattock, apparently without a banker.
