Rackley, Somerset

The Cheddar Yeo, looking upstream

Uploader's Comments

This part of the Cheddar Yeo is also known as the Old River Axe, which now flows to the south of here. It joins the current River Axe about 900 metres to the west (i.e. behind the photographer). In flat, low-lying country such as the Somerset Levels the courses of rivers do change, naturally or artificially; this may explain why this now rather modest stream has such high banks.
