Queen Margaret's Cove, Northumberland

Medieval ridge and furrow

Uploader's Comments

Lying below the scarp of Scrogg Hill, it was clearly part of the area of farmland associated with Dunstanburgh Castle, although not within the Scheduled area. Some of the earthworks running parallel to the hedge in the bottom of the dip may represent the wide ditch created in 1314 to act as a moat to the castle precinct.
