The small wooded valley between Bedmonton and Wormshill. Barrows Wood, an ancient and mature wood, was devastated in the hurricane force winds that swept across Kent in 1987. The taller trees in this picture are some of the few examples that survived. Although the woodland has recovered well, the discrepancy in the height of the canopy, some 25 years later, is clear to see.
