The church stands on its own away from any settlement. According to http://www.visitchurches.org.uk/Ourchurches/Completelistofchurches/Church-of-St-Margaret-of-Antioch-Knotting-Bedfordshire/ it was probably a chapel to the manor house which has now disappeared. The oldest part of the church dates from C13 and the tower was added in the C16.
