Pasture that was formerly used as Needs Oar Point ALG

Uploader's Comments

Needs Oar Point ALG was built by RAF Airfield construction unit in winter of 1943 and came into use by the RAF in April 1944. Three Hawker Typhoon fighter/bomber squadrons supported operation Overlord but move forwards into Normandy after about 11 weeks. The airfield was able to be returned to agriculture within the next few months, because of the temporary nature of the installations. See also:http://www.lymington.org/newforest/53.html
