The single track road between Tregaron and Abergwesyn is a favourite tourist route for drivers, but they have to take care. Steep hills and flood plains can make the route impassable in icy winter weather or after prolonged heavy rain. Beyond the passing place (indicated by the white marker), the road drops steeply into the Tywi valley, before approaching Cwm Irfon via even steeper gradients. It is a former cattle drover's route.
