Morecambe Bay, sea-inlet, on coast of Lancashire and Westmorland; measures 10 miles across the entrance (from Fleetwood to Walney), and extends 18 miles NE. to the mouth of river Kent; in 12 fathoms is Morecambe Bay Light-Vessel, with revolving light seen 10 miles; in 18 ft., between Yeoman and Clark wharf spits, is a light-vessel, with fixed light seen 5 miles; at the extremity of the stone or western pier at Poulton is a fixed light seen 8 miles.

Morecambe, small town (conjoint with Poulton), Lancaster par., N. Lancashire, on Morecambe Bay, 3½ miles NW. of Lancaster by rail; P.O, T.O., 1 Bank, 2 newspapers; is a rising watering-place, with sea-bathing facilities for summer visitors, and with aquarium and gardens, and other attractions.
