Eggleston Common is managed as a grouse moor and on shooting days this hut will be the luncheon shelter for the guns. Although the vehicle in view looks like the rear of a Land Rover, it's the trailer of a military-style, track-laying unit used to transport personnel over the soft peat surface of the moor.
