Melton.-- par. and vil. with ry. sta., Suffolk, on river Deben, 1 mile NE. of Woodbridge and 11½ miles NE. of Ipswich by rail, 1429 ac., pop. 1400; P.O.; has machine works and trade in corn and coals; in vicinity of vil. are Melton Hall and Melton Lodge, seats; 1 mile N. of vil. is the county lunatic asylum.
