This huge dry field is on the north side of Meggs Hill, next to the Roman Road. It was already unusually dry when I passed this way in February (see [[[2262859]]]). Despite a drab summer there has been very little rainfall in 2011 and the heatwave at the end of September and beginning of October did nothing to alleviate the drought.
