What a prospect to be faced by a sailor in those dark days of the Arctic Convoy! Conditions today are nigh unbearable in the howling Arctic wind; never mind the threat of foundering at the hands of the weather, the U-boat or misadventure as it was then! That's the Isle of Ewe which you can see to the left of the picture.
