Madam Law, Carlisle

Path below White Law

Uploader's Comments

Although now in modern use by farmer's four-wheeled vehicles, there are signs that this path contouring the east side of White Law is an old route from Old Halterburn Head on the Scottish side to Trowupburn on the English. The pass of Wideopen Head below on the right is directly below the hill of Madam Law. Trowupburn is reached either by a high level path [[3161682]] or by descending steeply down the valley of Wide Open to the right. Traces on the ground, plainly visible in aerial view, indicate that another route once crossed the fence that descends White Law on the left, making a junction with the Yetholm to Trowupburn track just east of Maddie's Well
