It used to be a busy time for this Wiltshire village; approaching February the 14th. Although the locals pronounce its name to rhyme with Dover (ie. low-ver) uninitiated romantics could post their Valentines Day cards at the local postbox so as to get the magic epithet as a postmark on the envelope but not any more. A well informed local tells me that the post office closed in 2008 and locally posted letters are now emblazoned with the less romantic Salisbury.
