Great Bernera is a large island on the west side of the Isle of Lewis which has since 1953 been connected to Lewis by a bridge. The highest point on Great Bernera is Middle Shalaval, 87m. It is unclear why it is 'Middle' Shalaval, as there are no other Shalavals on the Ordnance Survey maps.
