Geo north of Port na Muic

Uploader's Comments

This joint-guided cleft in the Ross of Mull granite had a remarkably even floor enabling me (and the dog) to walk down very easily to the shore of the Sound of Iona. A slightly more scrambly gully just to the north met this one at the bottom and provided us with a different way back up. The deeply shaded north-facing wall of the geo sported a variety of wildflowers, whilst the more sun-baked right wall was mostly limited to tough grasses. The Sound of Mull beyond is dotted with skerries and in the far distance, Iona is made of entirely different and much older rocks.
