The board explains that this part of Glentress Forest is managed as continuous cover woodland, rather than clearfell. Small groups of trees are being felled and replaced and the growth and yield are being monitored in a joint experimental project between FC Scotland and the University of Edinburgh. The experiment has been running since 1952!
