A pleasant route through pastures leads from Head Lane towards Mirk Howe and the River Gilpin. Despite sunshine and warmth, the ground was squelchy after days of rain which have re-ignited flooding fears in parts of Cumbria and Lancashire. Ahead are the heights of Tarn Hill and Hollow Stones, rising out of the lovely valley of the Gilpin.
