This is a church of notoriety. Rescued from ruin and oblivion by Bob and Gloria Davey and a team of enthusiasts. Foundations of a Saxon church built on the site of Roman occupation are revealed in the grass and illustrate that the church once had a south aisle and apsidal chancels. The building we see today is of Norman origins and a small chancel has been built on more recently after the last one was demolished by bombs dropped from a Zeppelin during WWI. The nave has wall unique painting dating from the 12th to the 15th c. and because of these various charities became involved in the total restoration of the building and preservation of the paintings. Today it is much visited and its wonderful history is there for all to see.
